The Ocean State will now have access to better biking paths and physical activity spaces—learn more here.
One of Rhode Island’s greatest strengths is its natural assets – including bike paths and other spaces for physical activity. Voters in the Ocean State overwhelmingly supported the passage of the $35 million Green Economy Bond, which will provide resources to improve parks, bikeways, and other recreational areas, and preserve green spaces.
The bond, supported by The Yes on 6 Coalition, led by the Audubon Society of Rhode Island, and supported by the American Heart Association, The Nature Conservancy, GrowSmartRI, Bike Newport, Rhode Island Parks and Recreation Association, Rhode Island Bicycle Coalition, and multiple other groups around the state, includes funding for the State Bikeway Development Program and provides $10 million to design and construct bikeways.
