Kentucky has become the first state to require water bottle filling stations for all newly constructed schools and school modernization projects!
With a minimum of two water bottle filling stations per school, and an existing requirement for one water fountain for every 75 building occupants, more than 650,000 Kentucky public school students will have better access to hydration!
Water bottle filling stations in schools can create a long-term increase in the amount of water students select. In fact, students who go to schools that have drinking water dispensers may be more likely to be at a healthy weight!
Congratulations to the American Heart Association in Kentucky and all advocates who worked to bring healthier drinks to children in the state!
