By our friends at the Alliance for a Healthier Generation
Research shows that healthy kids perform better on tests, get better grades, attend school more often and behave better in class. That’s why the Alliance for a Healthier Generation created its Healthy Schools Program in 2006. Since that time, the Alliance has worked with nearly 35,000 schools across the country to build healthier environments for kids.
Now it’s time to honor those schools in the program that are setting a best-in-class example of the nationwide movement to create a culture of health. All National Healthy Schools Award-winners have met stringent guidelines for serving healthier meals and snacks, getting students moving more, offering physical and health education and empowering school leaders to become healthy role models.
See if your local school is one of America’s Healthiest Schools and learn how you can be part of the movement they’ve started to make healthy schools the norm, and not the exception.
