Did you hear the news coming out of California? Cathedral City and the City of Long Beach have joined the growing movement to serve kids better by making healthy drinks the default in restaurant kids’ meals!
On November 8, Cathedral City adopted a healthy default drinks in kids’ meal ordinance with a 3-2 vote. Then, on November 14, the City of Long Beach officially enacted their healthy default drinks (water, milk, or juice) in kids’ meal ordinance with a unanimous vote.
Cathedral City and Long Beach join the cities of Davis, Stockton, Perris, and Berkeley and the county of Santa Clara in the growing movement among California localities to adopt ordinances that require healthy default beverage options in bundled kids’ meals.
Congratulations to Public Health Advocates, American Heart Association, The Children’s Clinic, Long Beach Alliance for Food and Fitness, and all the advocates who are making each day healthier for all children!
